Aragosta at Goose Cove
It seems like every winter somebody moves, somebody else moves in, and yet another somebody does something completely different. Sometimes, the same somebody does all three!
This winter was no exception. We learned that Aragosta was moving from Stonington to Deer Isle – Goose Cove Lodge to be exact.
In Aragosta’s place, Ryan McCaskey, a chef from Chicago with two Michelin Stars and Four Stars from Forbes, will open Acadia House Provisions.
We watched with baited breath as renovations took place at the former Factory Tavern on Bayview Street in Stonington, and were rewarded at press time with news that Stonington Provisions Company would be opening there. Aragosta at Goose Cove sits among one of Maine’s most spectacular and pristine oceanfront locations. The fine dining menu reflects the seasonal flavors of the coastal region and the creative culinary palette of Chef Finigan.
Utilizing the highest quality ingredients, Finigan says “our menu changes daily and adjusts to the availability of local produce.”
By working directly with local fishermen and farmers, Aragosta is able to offer an ever-changing, fresh menu.
Chef Finigan grew up in the mountains of Vermont. Finigan had a culinary upbringing and a passion for cooking at an early age. Her father, Kevin Finigan, is one of Vermont’s great chefs. Finigan began working in kitchens at age 14 and has never stopped.
Throughout her culinary career, Devin Finigan has worked alongside many well known chefs including Thomas Keller (The French Laundry and Per Se), Jean Georges (Jean Georges), Dan Barger (Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns), Melissa Kelly (Primo), and Kyle Connaughton (Single Thread Farms).
Finigan strives to maintain inspiration in her work, traveling the world into others kitchesn helps to fule that creativity in her. “I want to keep learning, keep being inspired.”
Finigan’s food brings you an intimate relationship with the island of Deer Isle. She creates exquisite meals with a commitment to locally-sourced ingredients from the island and the ocean around it.
Accommodations at Aragosta at Goose Cove include seven cottages and four suites.
Each of the private cottages, nestled among spruces and plush moss carpeting with remarkable ocean views include a kitchenette, outdoor sitting area, and are within short walking distance of the restaurant.
The semi-private suites are attached to the restaurant and accessible from the deck, offering guests front row seats to the cove. While the suites do not have a kitchenette, guests staying in our suites have the option of food delivery from the restaurant. Each suite also includes a sitting area, deck access, and a gorgeous ocean view.
Additionally, Aragosta at Goose Cove offers all-inclusive wedding and private event packages that are tailored to each individual’s needs.
With accommodations for up to 40 guests, private beach access, full catering, vintage dishware, wildflower boutiques, and boat tours this may be the perfect spot for your wedding, family reunion, or special birthday celebration.
